Day 7 - Paging Dr. Funk

Postby sphenodont » 19 Aug 2014, 18:22:19

In the interest of getting the post up while people are still awake... let's do this quickly.

Even with a degree and years of experience, medicine is damned hard to distinguish in the dark. Especially if you're not wearing your glasses. And also if that guy you took home with you last night left his "special" pills on the nightstand next to yours.

Sometimes you don't want increased blood flow.

Iron Clad Burrito - Nurse - Chose the Blue Pill, Day 6 (Lynch)

Vote Totals
Iron Clad Burrito - 5 - rekard, Augenvonsauron, Ryvvn, Aldax, Okaros
DastardlyOldMan - 4 - Iron Clad Burrito, Omega, stigmata, jokerfish
Omega - 1 - DastardlyOldMan

DastardlyOldMan went to see the local ice hockey team play, and got very, very drunk. Russians take their sports very seriously, and don't care much for American boorishness. Especially when said American is dressed in a seven-foot-tall plush cartoon Indian costume.

One thing lead to another, and after the match, there was betting and challenges involved.

It didn't end well for DOM.

DastardlyOldMan - Sports Team Mascot, Kept His Stick On The Ice, Day 6 (Maul)

Maul Votes
DastardlyOldMan - 2
JokerFish - 1
Okaros - 4 (immune)
Omega - 1
RaveBomb - 2
Ryvvn - 2
stigmata - 1

Today's Maul Votes
jokerfish - 1
Okaros - 3
Omega - 1
rekard - 3
Ryvvn - 2
stigmata - 1

Ryvvn is immune to the maul. (because rekard and Okaros are tied)

If you lynch the Fake Psychic Police Consultant today, the game will be over. You need to lynch a Reaper.

((I'm going to say this now, I'm human, meaning not death nor a reaper; Okaros is my most suspected at this time, I think he's the one who PM'd rekard and myself to put us both into maul contention.))

This is what happens when you give up early and stop contributing. Also when too many people miss votes and participation is low.

Omega
Ryvvn/Okaros
Clearasday
AVS/Aldax/stigmata

I wonder how many went for the psychic thing early on, cuz that makes day 1 analysis weird.

Let's start with Omega

(( I PM'd rekard after he posted his "Watch the PMs you've gotten" post. I wish you'd responded and declared you were human rather than sending me that "..." reply. You're clearly willing to declare it publicly, why not send it via PM yesterday when I asked? Your (lack of) response just increased my suspicion of you. ))

((Because I was already suspicious of you for that PM, plus I wasn't ready to trust anyone beyond the standard PM I've been sending, same as you received; your early vote for Zark on day 1 just does not sit well with me, my gut tells me you did not actually predict him for an early death. So I'm gonna stand behind my read on you, Okaros.))

(( Did I miss something in my prediction instructions from spheno? I had Zark as the Recovering Alcoholic because of his wonderfully alcohol-centric role in the Quantum game. I had no idea what the timing of the predictions were going to be. Did you pick Meta4 or RaveBomb knowing they'd be early targets somehow?

As a wolf, I don't believe you'd waste your "I'm human" trump in this situation so please double-check your reasoning. ))

Bold is mine for emphasis:

I will say that after the Reapers were selected, we were left with three valid potential seers.

Keep in mind, that was with an extra prediction that has been dropped, so the numbers are much better now, but I still strongly recommend that you reconsider some of your choices. Also, while you may be tempted to hit random.org for your choices, it might help to choose more strategically and pick players who you think will die early, who you can convinve others should die early, and who might last until the late stages of the game.

Also, the Altruist / GA role has been dropped due to what I'd like to call "complexity".

I made my predictions with these tips in mind, and meta was one of my predictions, turned out to be the first role call for death which unfortunately lost my potential to be the psychic. I would expect generally observant and skillful players to also play with these tips in mind, I don't think nominating any of the usual mid-to-late game crowd or analytical players would be an intelligent play, I don't think nominating Zark for a death would have been an intelligent play, I think you are intelligent, I think you're a wolf.

(( Ryvvn, I didn't read that as "Pick only people that you think would die early", more as "You want some early-game and some late-game picks". That's something spheno later confirmed when he spelled out what days the predictions we were making were going to be for in detail later on that day (the "hopefully useful information" post in the Day Zero thread).

I went back through the list of mauls trying to see what the Reapers might be thinking. If you consider the 10 of us that are left, the only fully active (100% lynch participation) people who are left are myself, Ryvvn, rekard, and Augenvonsauron. The mauls seems to have predominantly targeted the consistently active and vocal players, particularly the ones more heavily involved in discussion. Omega- retracted makes sense in that context: DOM went after him yesterday and got mauled, and he might be counting on his early missed votes and overall quiet game to keep him from the spotlight. Ryvvn has been dead quiet up until late yesterday/today and rekard and I have been openly suspicious of each other, so we were probably lower-priority targets.

The Day Three MEM maul is a bit puzzling though. Why maul someone with zero participation? ))

Hmm. Let's not have wagons this high so early.

I will need to hear more from Omega. Also, Okaros, your reasons for him sound convoluted.

Why not mention the vote for PJ on day 2 or how easy he followed the Snake wagon?

I will switch to Ryvvn until I arrive to a definite decision. I want to see what others do and what Omega says.

Though my problem is that I'm uncertain of most people and want to keep it close in case Omega sounds human.

If you still end up losing after this, it's totally not your fault.-Hellheart

That sounds purely defensive. Not sure I'm willing to follow a bandwagon that was abandoned by its creator and supported by another suspect.

Tell you what. RaveBomb for now, and I'll keep listening to you.

The air had turned tense. Trust was low before, but now everyone was looking at each other with daggers in their eyes. Some say Ryvvn is the guilty party, some other say Omega is, some say that Okaros is and no one is really sure of anything now.

This is a much, much worse development than the one I had imagined

We were under a lot of pressure right now. One more screw up and the Reapers win and we'll be all royally screwed. I'll ponder my options a little more. I won't jump into a bandwagon just yet, because going for an early wagon without some serious thought is the worst thing we can do right now.

Since Omega took off abruptly I am going to mirror Rekard and vote for Stigmata, because congratulations on your new job. But also, exclamation marks are a sign of wolfdom.

Oh my...

I'll be the first to admit, I have been phoning it in this game. Life has been busy, I haven't been able to read and analyze like I usually do.

Not sure what else I can say at this point.

George was running out of time today and was fortunate to find her way to the town hotel at all. Since she was still needing a ride out of town she was willing to sheep on Omega. There never needed to be justification for that.

Ooc: Uncle visiting almost failed to get here at all.

As a townsperson at this point its a bit hard to pick who to vote for. I've almost never seen a landslide vote against someone go well in this situation. But it doesn't look like traction is possible.

Fifteen minutes to go:
Omega - rekard (retracted), Clearasday (retracted), Okaros, RaveBomb, Augenvonsauron
RaveBomb - stigmata, Clearasday
Okaros - Ryvvn
Ryvvn - rekard

I'm assuming rekard meant to retract his vote on Omega...
