Comments for the peanut gallery if you feel like it.

Nothing definite, but the customary Hellheart-stigmata opening votes felt a bit "off." It sometimes seems to me that Hellheart puts more stock in keeping up appearances when he's a wolf, so he can take an early vote from me.

Also, I have to say, if one is going to do that kind of policy vote every game -- which is clearly intended to deny information for a day... well. I'm interested in seeing whether this generates pushback. If anyone tries to argue it's a lazy vote because of the guaranteed pressure it can provide, then that would mean it serves a dual purpose of denying information and generating automatic protection. I wouldn't be okay with that.

I'm trying to decide on whether I should provide the typical vote tally for the previous day's lynch in the next day's opener, you know, like such:
Player - 5 - voter, voter, voter, voter, voter
Player - 3 - voter, voter, voter
Player - 1 - voter

Or stick with the totally vanilla concept and just give them this:
so-and-so was lynched, they were such-and-such

My concern is that the players who use those tallies for vote analysis will feel it lazy on my part as GM to not provide that information, but as of right now I'm not currently tracking the order votes are being placed, just who's voting for whom in that second post.

I like the final vote tally, but always found the voting log to be of limited useful. It's prone to errors/deliberate GM manipulation and if you're serious about analyzing that data you're keeping track of it yourself anyway.

So, my suggestion would be:

Include the typical vote tally, drop the actual vote log, and include a disclaimer that the order of the votes in the tally may not reflect the actual order the votes were placed in.

Welcome, Aldax and Omega.

Aldax, I'd say I'm sorry to you for losing the coin flip, but you were first maul choice anyway, so you were fighting a losing battle.

Omega, sorry for Aldax losing the coin flip, which allowed you to win conditional maul :P

Yeah, she probably could have pointed out that I did explain the basics to her, along with offering at least some general game play advice.

This may have been a bit of an exaggeration (bold for my emphasis):
Subject: Night 1 wrote:
Elvera wrote:Hello! So this is my first wolf game ever and I have no idea what I'm doing!

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

But I am glad DOM stepped up the plate to help her out! He is correct that she probably should also be asking for advice in the day thread so as not to seem like she's getting help elsewhere, but as far as I recall, she hasn't outed herself as completely new to the group at large yet; if she doesn't do so soon, hopefully she won't let it slip later.

What is Zark doing...

I suppose in a game where we know there are only wolves and humans, by drawing this much attention to himself, he's clearly not a wolf. So he's, in a loose sense, confirming that he's human. Obviously with only 4 wolves, he couldn't take such a large chance and expose himself so early in the game. It is a shame his dferrantino target is wrong.

Yeah, I can see your point about his "confirming" his humanity, while he may also just be trying to buy himself some maul free days.

It'll be interesting to see if he bounces around again this evening.

Yeah, I could see him trying to get some maul free days, the wolves can't/shouldn't risk mauling him and refocusing attention to each other's actions. Of course, that is if the humans don't end up lynching him before

I am the most obvious Wolf ever. I will vote to save my team members, loudly argue that they're human, etc. But first I pick 3 humans at random to be my "team mates". If I get lynched as a Wolf the Humans may spend days going after other Humans. Hilarity ensues.

I think this only works to kill maybe one human, then smarter players will question going after the others; though I have noticed that wolves will oftentimes declare humanity for a couple of people at once in a single post, usually throwing one of their own in with the mix of "lock" humans. This always seemed a double-edged ploy to me because if the humans lynch that vocal wolf, they have a greater chance of hitting a human going down the wolf vouched for list and then question whether it's worth risking more humans by pushing through the rest, but they also know that there is a likely wolf in the remaining.

It's been a long time since it's actually mattered, and we've all been mitigating it pretty well over the last...oh idk...year or three...but there's still the stigma that'll never go away. If DOM is mauled early suspicion goes squarely on me and vice-versa. With DOM and Visi both on that team, they're better off without me alive, though.

Of course, suspicion also goes squarely on me if I do any kind of early analysis, or make posts with no substance whatsoever, or call people out on their bullshit, or post at all, which is why the last few games where I've ended up as a wolf I've almost invariably offered myself up for sacrifice.

I have my reservations about 7-zark-7, Hellheart, RaveBomb, and San.

But something tells me RaveBomb must surely be a wolf!

I'm not sure tossing San on that list was a good idea, that would have certainly caught my attention as San is not vocal enough to have reservations about, and other than him having a penalty and being quoted here by her, there's no reason to mention having "reservations" about him regardless.

Hellheart got the right vote on Furin for the wrong reason hah. Though given the knowledge it's a plausible theory.

But he forgets that Furin did a very similar thing in the last game, so I don't know how he got that theory if human Furin did the same. But it's good.

I'm not going to lie, I wish I had the balls to try this again some game where I'm a wolf. It's suicidal, potentially damaging to the humans if they let it get to them, and just not great strategy. But I'm having a blast.

By the way. You're extending the next day to Monday right?

Thanks for reminding me of the holiday, I have to work so didn't even think about it. I think I'll leave it on if all players vote before then or not, like I'll end a day if all votes are already in by 10pm, but let the day go into the next if not. So we could possibly get through 3 days if everyone is active, or just 1 if not.

It's better if you make a decision now and tell folks about it. Someone always makes plans that only allows them to participate until the last day.

Although with this number of players, it's better to have a set EOD rather than one depending on what ifs. Sounds good in theory but in practice it ends up rushed because there will be very little discussion. It is likely that the brunt of the discussion will take place on Monday.

The only times to end a day early are when very few players are left and discussion is known to be small.

I would prefer potentially getting multiple days in over the long weekend than just calling it 72 hours and being done with it. I will explain clearly my intentions to the players at the start of next day (tonight). No one will be penalized or left out if they have a busy weekend and are only able to check in and vote once over the course of it, and a day will not end without all votes accounted for -- this will actually stretch into Tuesday in the event I can end a day earlier but then someone is unable to come back and vote before 10pm Monday. No matter what happens, we'll still end at the bare minimum of two days completed by next Tuesday night, with the potential for more should the players be available to do so.

Eh, I guess I see the problem, this would not allow players to retract based on the votes to come after theirs if the day might end before they can check back. I'll simply ask players who would prefer day to end Sunday to add (48) after their vote. If all players do add (48) I'll end Sunday, if not all do then ill just let it go to Monday.
