Rules and Questions

Postby necklessone » 11 Sep 2014, 05:37:57

Doesn't summer just go by too fast? Class has only been in session for two weeks but already you and your friends are burned out on this semester. How can anyone study when it's so nice outside?

Thankfully, there's salvation coming up this weekend. Fred's dad's dentist has this kick ass cabin by the lake and everyone is going to ditch class Friday to spend a long weekend up there. Kegs are ordered, RVs are rented, nubile coeds are invited. It will be one last hurrah where no one has to think about midterms, problem sets, papers, or lab reports. You are so stoked.

Of course, the nebbish geek who you hang out with just complete your full demographic set has brought up some concerns. "Isn't that the same Lake Wolvesyleetya where all those travelers were found murdered exactly 200 years ago? And then all those missionaries exactly 150 years ago? And what about the other college students 50 years ago?" He's so annoying. "And didn't some locals ominously warn us about the clan of wolf-worshipers who commit ritual sacrifices every full moon? Isn't this weekend a full moon?"

Whatever. He'll get some beer into him, maybe some alone time with that woman he has a crush on. Nothing is going to ruin this weekend.

Nothing.

*ahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, then smash cut to title*

The Wolf Game LXXIV
Adventures at Lake Wolvesyleetya

Coming to thewolfgame.net near you on 9/15/14
Directed by necklessone. Screenplay by necklessone, based on an original short story by necklessone. Wolf motion capture by Andy Serkis.
--------------------

For our next edition of The Wolf Game, we're going back into the realm of horror. The game will run in our typical manner (24 hour days, 48 hour weekends) with a 9pm EDT end of day because I'm old and cranky. There will be no private messages.

As far as any of you know, this game is vanilla. There will be the following roles:
  • Voyeur - Once per day the voyeur may look into another players room to try and catch them naked. They will find out that players role if it's on this list.
  • Sober Escort - While the other players are getting too drunk to function at night, you can choose one of them (or yourself) to watch over. Your target may not be night killed that night, but you may not target the same player on consecutive days.
  • Hunter - Of course you brought your rifle on a weekend get away filled with liquor and running around the woods. You never know when you'll see the buck of a lifetime. Once per game, you may shoot another player in the day thread to kill them instantly.
  • Wolves - You may look like a standard horny college student, but you're actually a member of the cult that's protected this lake for centuries. Each night your team will vote to kill another player until The Hunger is satisfied.
Also, this game is not vanilla. There are hidden rules and roles. There will be no conversions, but there may be no more than two hidden factions.

I mean, just look at the rules. This game is obviously vanilla. Except where it isn't.

I missed this question in the signup due to owl-bear attack.

(Emphasis mine.)
Is this an explicit statement that the Voyeur can't identify all roles, just the publicly declared ones?

Yes, the Voyeur can only find the public roles. I assure you, it will still be very, very useful so don't lynch him Day 1.

If you are a human, your victory condition is to eliminate the wolves.

If you are a wolf, your victory condition is to achieve parity with the humans non-wolves.

Come on guys, this is vanilla. Except where it isn't.

Also, no one is part of more than one faction. That they're aware of.

Here is a firm statement of victory and loss conditions. They are vanilla.

  • Humans
    • Victory - Eliminate all wolves.
    • Loss - Wolves reach parity with non-wolf players.
  • Wolves
    • Victory - Wolves reach parity with non-wolf players.
    • Loss - All wolves eliminated.

Any players who have other victory conditions have been notified in secret. Their victory/loss conditions to not impact those of the humans and wolves.
