Day 2 - Heir today, gone tomorrow

Postby Okaros » 03 Feb 2015, 18:18:50

As everyone spends the rest of the evening looking around for likely Spaceballs, there's one particular guy that keeps coming to mind. You're pretty sure he's hopping about on stilts, which means he's a midget. Clearly he must be Dark Helmet, because only he would be that short!

Several of you shove him into the waiting arms of the security officers, just ahead of several other candidates. They shrug and escort him away.

( Cut to a shot of the hallway outside. The stilt-wearing Spaceball sheds his uniform and hops down from the stilts, revealing the wizened figure of Yogurt. )

Well, at least I don't have to bother with this silly getup anymore. The things the marketing department makes me do to advertise my brand new movie, Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Wolves! Yeesh!

If I had to smooze with one more person, I thought I'd lose my mind. Now at least I can go and get myself a nice M.L.T. ...

He hobbles out of the castle using one of the stilts as a walking stick.

( Meanwhile, back in the Reception Hall... )

With all the racket being made, one of the female Spaceball impersonators (in a diamond-encrusted pink Spaceball helmet, no less) decides this is just too ridiculous to deal with sober. She's in the middle of drinking a cup of punch handed to her by another of the guests when it occurs to her that RaveBomb was caught while tampering with the punch bowls... She twitches and twerks for a few moments before falling over dead on the floor. There are several wails of despair when you realize what's happened and who exactly it was under all those diamonds:

The bride is dead.

Her body is reverently carried off by several of the security guards, who return with cots, pillows, and blankets. Looks like you're all sleeping here tonight, along with Prince Valium who hasn't been woken up yet. The guards eyeball each other and shrug. It's not like he was contributing anything anyway, and they'll let him be the one to tell the King the bad news.

In the morning, the guards demand you select someone new for interrogation. Preferably an actual, for-real Spaceball this time.

Well, I think it's pretty normal around here to kill the seer Day 1. But to kill two specials on day 1? Impressive.

Not impressed that retracted smirker didn't move his vote, and instead left it at 3 when he wasn't in any danger.

(Retracted was - Rictus), I'm unimpressed in your singleton vote. If you expect for me to keep coming back and changing and moving my vote; why didn't you make your matter? My rationale on putting it on one was pretty simple, to encourage people to do less bandwagons so it the information could be of use later. I ould've thought you got that.

[[Besides, i got into a longer game of Town of Salem and didnt get a chance to check back until EOD had already occurred.]]

Late singletons on Day 1 always draw my attention. Put me down for Clearasday for the convenient revenge vote throwaway.

Didn't we just have this conversation yesterday?

Quiet - we're rolling in 3.. 2..

Rita mouths the word one, and Phil's demeanor changes. They're filming out of order - they'll catch the local color later in the day - right now, it's all about the animal before them:

. . . So according to Ms. Groundhog here, I guess we can expect six more weeks of winter. It's not very scientific, but it sure is fun.
Hey, wait a second. If she's right, I could be out of a job!

(mock laugh)

For Channel 9 News, this is Phil Connors in Punxsutawney .

(The tally light goes out, and Phil is immediately back in his normal mode)

Anyone else getting this? It's not just me, right?

Right?

We had seven votes on seven targets, and then:

meta4 created an 8th singleton.
7Z7 created a 9th singleton
Rictus created a 10th singleton
Visigoth created an 11th singleton
blindsniper created a 12th singleton
CAD created a 13th singleton

13 targets out of 20 people makes it insanely easy for the wolves to pretty much hide whereever they want to. I love random as much as the next guy, but at some point, you have to limit it.

Rictus, both for contributing to the problem, and for going after the one person that didn't randomly splatter their vote on another throwaway (even if his choice of targets was regrettable).

Phil leaves Rita and Larry and is on his way to grab some lunch and clear his head when he notices Clearasday, a girl who drew the princess's eye the last time around. He stops to talk to her.

You came to see the groundhog?

CAD gives him a look. It's obvious she's never seen him before.

Can you think of another reason anybody'd be out here at dawn on a freezing day?

What's your name?

Clearasday Dalek. And you are—

Where'd you go to high school?

What is this?

(playful)High school?

She really doesn't know what to make of Phil but she decides to play along.

Lincoln High school. In Pittsburgh. Who are you?

Who was your twelfth grade English teacher?

Are you kidding?

I'm waiting.

Mrs. Walsh.

Walsh. Clearasday, Lincoln, Walsh.

Is this some kind of come-on?

I'm not really sure. We'll have to see.

Phil regarded the chestburster at length, and from a distance. Hugs were from a different kind of alien. He'd almost ordered the special, until, of course he saw what that did to John Hurt.

Didn't he destroy the Timelords?

Cad, The War Doctor's story is a complicated one. We can discuss that tomorrow

Okay, I just thought...

Tomorrow

Back in his reverie, Phil also briefly considered the Aunt Jemima treatment, but ultimately decided that too would be changing the subject. He'd keep an eye on sphenodont. Two, in fact... as often as he could spare them.

I'm ok with my vote as it is right now, I didn't pull the trigger on dferrantino; i was simply trying to get fewer and more significant bandwagons going.

The Reception Hall is frequently used for watching important sporting events and major off-world media announcements, so it's no surprise that there are several very large display panels embedded in the walls.

What's is a surprise is when they spring to life with a static-y crackle and begin displaying a scrolling "Please Stand By For An Announcement From The King" message.

Uh oh, someone must have told him about his daughter. Maybe he's going to make a statement about it after you turn over your latest interrogation victim?

Hmm, so we have a dual bandwagon instead of 3. Decent I suppose.

But, but primary suspect of Rictus isn't in the running (although I appreciate CAD's vote on him as well). Admittedly, I'm basing it mostly off of the flawed logic he stated about me; but that's the element that caught my eye most so far as overly noteworthy.

Snake, let's see if this ruffles any fur...

Re: Day 2 - Heir today, gone tomorrow

Smirker wrote:(Retracted was - Rictus), I'm unimpressed in your singleton vote. If you expect for me to keep coming back and changing and moving my vote; why didn't you make your matter? My rationale on putting it on one was pretty simple, to encourage people to do less bandwagons so it the information could be of use later. I ould've thought you got that.

I get it, it's something I've done myself as well.

At work today I went back and read the day 1 thread and got a humanish vibe from your two posts. And your explanation makes sense. I'm retracting my vote.

DastardlyOldMans post today was interesting as well, because of some names he left out.
Charming, to the last.

Well, thank god for SOME reaction here. I was hoping we'd have more active later in the day after D1.. but maybe tomorrow?

I'll leave my vote where it is.. makes me feel dirty.. but fair is fair and he did the last on dferrantino yesterday

Even if I turned up a wolf this vote is going to look bad.

Ah! I was thinking the EOD was 9pm Eastern... but I can see from yesterday that it's Central! Excellent.. This makes me much more comfortable in seeing if we can get some more activity here. Plus, I need to pop off and chat with the wife about a few things.
