Day 4 - A terrible fate for two

Postby Okaros » 05 Feb 2015, 18:28:28

The guards are a bit surprised when you tie That PJ and Smirker together and shove them forward. The King was quite explicit about only one person being interrogated at a time. Something to do with budget cuts and there only being one interrogation room?

They argue briefly while Smirker and PJ squirm and struggle in their bonds, then settle on an easy way to determine the loser. They clear off one of the banquet tables, place the bound pair on top of one end, and proceed to roll them down the length of the table at a dizzying speed. The two tumble briefly through the air as they fly off the edge and land on the floor with Smirker facedown.

The guards cut the ropes and lead a dazed and concussed Smirker back into the crowd while keeping a firm hold on the intact That PJ. Realizing his fate as he's lead away, he begins to thrash and scream in terror.

"No! I'll talk! I'll say anything you want! Please, just don't torture me! Anything! President Skroob's shoesize! The codes to our luggage! Just not Teletubbies! Please!"

He continues begging for his life and sanity as he's led away, but his cries for mercy seems to make his guilt undeniable.

Meanwhile, an idle Mister E. Meat was staring out the window. He'd thought he'd spotted someone running around in the forest outside and was trying to get a closer look. A gentle nudge from someone in the crowd was all it took to send him over the edge and into the moat.

"I'm okay!", you hear him yell. "These alligators broke my fall! ... Wait... Alligators? Ack!"

You all hear the sounds quite clearly as he's torn apart. There's a temptation to look out the window to see, but you recall that's how he wound up down there in the first place...

Prince Valium stirs at the sounds of MEM's horrible death. He stretches a little, yawns, then rolls back over and returns to sleep.

Dastardlyoldman

I don't trust his justification for saying he would not switch to PJ. Seems iffy to me.

Sphenodont, why shouldn't we consider you a wolf?

There is something I don't like in Ryvvn but I do not know what yet.

Nice. I'm not jumping to any conclusions here, but I had a faint hope something like that might happen when I realized I was writing about how the wolves could vote anywhere they wanted after Cam's vote. I'm not sure we can stretch the conclusion this far, but DastardlyOldMan's waffling sounded a tiny bit wolfy to me. Just a bit.

I can understand the waffling feeling wolfy, I'd probably say the same thing - I was going to vote ThatPJ to push the tie, and had retracted my initial vote - but by the time I did that, blindsniper had voted for ThatPJ, leaving it as a tie already. I'd been waffling on it all day, because I didn't like the wagon on Smirker, but there was never any concrete case against ThatPJ (other than a couple of people "not liking him"), so I second-second-second-guessed myself out of it at the last minute.

It's all well & good that we did get a wolf, but I'm a bit concerned about HOW we got him. Was it just gut feels, or was there something specific that triggered the votes on ThatPJ? It feels to me like a sacrifice play (led by a player ~known for making sacrifice plays).

Why would wolf-DOM have changed anything in that scenario?

Going with redacted-was-rekard - he specifically called out that he "didn't like" ThatPJ after CAD voted on him, but then left his vote elsewhere when ThatPJ was pushed up as an alternative wagon. Today he's quick to jump on me because I didn't move my vote over there, but visibly considered it.

Sidenote, does King Roland (and probably just that screenshot specifically) remind anyone else of the Cowardly Lion? I almost went and checked to see if they were the same actor, until I realized that the two movies were about 50 years apart...

The wolves have done an amazing job sussing out our specials. I'm not seeing any bread crumbs that would have lead them knocking on MEM's door, so how are they targeting them?

It is totally valid to suspect people and not vote for them if you are not sure. But it's also a common ocurrence with wolves that they will declare voting for a wolf without doing the vote in the end. Honestly, there is no need to even announce you were about to vote for someone unless you want to show people your intentions and say later : "But I was so going to vote for him!".

I do wonder about Admetus. How much is true? And how much isn't? I do wonder. Yesterday he asked Ryvvn about why he was voting for him mentioning the voting block ( which I hadn't noticed until then). Then, when Ryvvn answered it could seem as if Admetus already knew the reason for Ryvvn's vote. Could they both be wolves? Ryvvn has done this thing before where he votes for a fellow wolf for various days in a row for small reasons.

If a dead wolf has a role of some kind, it will be called out in the same manner as the human specials have been so far. Anything else is just flavor text.

I wonder what the weather's going to be like tonight

My guess is it'11 be cold and overcast, high today in the low 30's, dropping to the low 20's tonight, but I'm predicting that all that moisture coming up from the Gulf is going to miss us and dump some locally heavy snow, possibly blizzard conditions with travel advisories in the Harrisburg area and maybe as far east as Philadelphia.

(off her surprised look)

Did you want to talk about the weather or were you just making chitchat?

Okay... do you know anything about that?

Image

Hmm

I've never seen anything like Admetus

You only get them in Punxsutawney. Something to do with the water table and lax laws about first cousins

Do you always joke?

About 70 to 80% of the time. Inside I'm actually a very shy and sensitive person.

Right. But why Admetus?

Well, I can't vote for President Skroob, nor the king. You have to be a resident, there's all these papers to file... it's a pain really

And?

I think there was at least one wolf in the day one bandwagon on Dferr. His position was right, and Smirker had a healthy lead when Admetus parked his vote on PJ. Maybe he wanted to buy credibility later & got stuck?

More in a bit,

Unexpected dinner plans tonight, so I'm probably not going to be back before EOD.

I don't like explicit throw-away votes in general, even more so when they're against me. I gotta wonder what Cam's game is.

I like DOM over rekard, who feels fairly human to me. I don't think Smirker is fully absolved yet, but I'm voting to keep rekard alive more than anything.

If you're going to point this out, then let's keep in mind that I've also had instances of string voting wolves when I've been human; your comment comes off as an attempt to plant a seed against me, especially if Admetus eventually does flip wolf.

[Whew - i thought you were gonna miss placing your own vote Rictus!]

Hmm, home from work and just finishing reviewing the posts for all days thus far...

i can see where people are suspicious of DOM, but that bandwagon is doing fine... I really am not inclined with rekard (I love the mental image of Dean Winchester image punching out Prince Valium every time he turns around).. nor Admetus to a degree.. I'm inclined to see sphenodont as a good secondary bandwagon, but as substantial time has passed while I pondered this... I'll continue to mull it over as I cook up some dinner. I'll be back at least an hour before EOD...

Well, that escalated quickly.
Pauses video tape of Anchorman
I'd love to know why people were voting on That PJ since other than the defensive vote from Smirker and the tying vote from Blindsniper83 there's not much meat to work with from the others.

Could certainly take the delayed revenge vote on DastardlyOldMan, but the Day 1 vote gives me pause. Since if he's a wolf that puts two on them on Snake where there were plenty of other places (which he complained about in fact) he could have placed a second vote on. So why group up with another wolf.

Instead I'm going with Admetus. I admit it's an odd vote since he was part of the pile-on of That PJ, but just how he did it makes me wonder. His vote was just that and nothing else. And after poking a couple of people for reason's for their vote to just do a vote only post seemed odd to me.

I'm back and I'd still prefer it to be DOM and sphenodont, but he's not a viable option for a tie. I'll do a tentative vote on Retracted ( was Admetus) . While I'm not feeling particularly strongly on his (Admetus) being a 'wolf', I think he's more suspicious than rekard.

Oh hi. Good thing I didn't forget about the deadline today. I seem to be up against it. Let me put out a few comments.

For a good bit of today I've been pondering DOM vs rekard. Honestly I could see either or both of them being wolves. I even wrote a little note about that to Okaros last night, and I haven't been able to settle my thoughts on it much yet.

rekard wrote:I do wonder about Admetus.

This is absurd. I poked Ryvvn because I was curious. Sometimes I can even get a good read on him. I don't even have any idea what could make you jump to such a wild conclusion.

Visigoth wrote:Instead I'm going with Admetus. I admit it's an odd vote since he was part of the pile-on of That PJ, but just how he did it makes me wonder. His vote was just that and nothing else. And after poking a couple of people for reason's for their vote to just do a vote only post seemed odd to me.

You seem to have overlooked most of my posts for that day. You're also ignoring my early post today which tipped my hand on what I was thinking at the time of yesterday's vote. So much missed -- just because it's convenient, or what?

Smirker, since you seem to maybe be checking in here, why the need to have a tie at all? If you're suspicious of DOM and spheno, and DOM can be lynched just by voting for spheno, isn't that what you want?

With approximately 20 minutes left and everyone having voted, this is the tally I have:

Admetus : 4 : Ryvvn, 7-zark-7, Visigoth, Smirker
DastardlyOldMan : 4 : rekard, Admetus, meta4, sphenodont
rekard : 2 : DastardlyOldMan, Clearasday
sphenodont : 2 : San, Cam_Chase
meta4 : 1 : BlindSniper83
Visigoth : 1 : Rictus
I kind of assume Okaros is out to backstab me until proven otherwise. - DOM

a decent question.. and it's because i think there is more value in long term for analysis. or would you like to go for spheno?

[[e: just noticed that you're on DOM.. that would be choosing one over the other.. :/ ]]

[[meh.. screw it.. i'll go ahead and go for sphenodont.. i dont think the logn term analysis will help a ton when we dont have tons of late activity anyway.. ]]

[[e3: Edited to reflect what I was responding to.. It's a good point, so thanks for helping me see it.]]

Yeah I'm less willing to jump to spheno, since I haven't been focusing on him as much right now. Let me go re-read the threads for him.

Sphenodont picked you out of the dferrantino voters Day 2, ahead of Snake (human) and Rictus (unknown). He's also pointed out his own possibly suspicious-looking position on Day 1.

He's struck a very friendly tone so far this game.

I could see why he's getting votes. I'm still really unsure about rekard vs DOM. I kind of want to see what one of them flips as...

That's fine. I didnt expect you to change when i saw you were one of the DOM votes.. i want him up there.. I tend to have a blind spot where he is concerned, so i want him in contention.

Also, as a warning: Please don't edit your vote into previous posts, Smirker. It's very easy to lose those. :(
