Deuxième Jour: Une foule aveugle

Postby necklessone » 08 Oct 2015, 19:22:31

In retrospect, it was the death of the priest really amped things up. Before everyone was confused and scared (and maybe a little hungry). But after the church? Just raw anger.

Okay, maybe still some hunger. But not too bad; it's barely sunset, after all.

Without strong leadership, the mob did what came natural to them: they rounded up foreigners and yelled at them. Lacking proper foreigners (as there is no reason to visit Mouton-Adorable unless you live there), they settled for anyone who's family has been in town less than five generations. RaveBomb, rekard, San, and That PJ huddled together as the mob shouted and pelted them with over-ripe cheese and stale bread. It would have ended there had Antoine, still grieving for his lost flock, not emerged from the mob with a sharp knife.

"Demon!" he shouted, stabbing blindly at the first person he came across. "Give me back my sheep!"

rekard's answer was lost in the blood filling his lungs.

rekard - Villager, lynched

The mob quickly broke apart as rekard lay dying. Many villagers ran for the closest building where they could shelter and wait for safety. A few even ran for their farms on the outskirts of town, thinking they'd be better supplied and less conspicuous. Once didn't make it.

sphendont - Villager, mauled

Totals - Tie decided by random.org
RaveBomb - 3 - Meta4, 7-Zark-7, Admetus
rekard - 3 - San, DastardlyOldMan, Okaros
San - 3 - rekard, Clearasday, RaveBomb
That PJ - 3 - Ryvvn, Ionitor, twdog
Clearasday - 2 - dferrantino, sphenodont

DastardlyOldMan - 1 - Blindsniper83
Meta4 - 1 - Visigoth
Ryvvn - 1 - That PJ

When the sun rises, the villagers slowly creep back into town to discuss the deaths of the previous night. Something must be done. Construction begins on the gallows.

Day ends in ~23.5 hours.

Gallows... That's what this was coming to. No trust, no respect for an honest cop.

Jimmy, give it up - you're overzealous, bigoted and a womanizing alcoholic

Said honest - didn't say anything about being a man you'd take home to meet your mother

Tell me you found something then

That's what you get for searching records... I'm taking this to the street. I know the deal hasn't gone down yet. I KNOW it! I can feel it, I'm dead certain.

Desperate's overselling it a bit, don't you think? The usual reasons. I'm not a wolf, and you might be.

I'll start today on dferrantino. The only reason is I'd like to see new people on the list. It wouldn't be the first time the wolves decided to pick their target from among those not being voted on.

RaveBomb retracted a vote for Admetus --RaveBomb being RaveBomb
Admetus votes for RaveBomb --Obvious vote is obvious
RaveBomb votes for San --Defensive vote is defensive
twdog votes for That PJ --Did we really need to make this a 3-way tie?
Okaros votes for rekard --Welp, we know how this one turned out

RaveBomb's votes are useless here, Admetus's makes perfect sense, twdog's doesn't, and Okaros's was, in hindsight, objectively bad.

Voting San/RaveBomb or That PJ/twdog gives us some information. Okaros is the obvious vote. So I'm going to vote for Ionitor, for what's probably the wolfiest post I've read in a long time:

I'm going for San. Not only was he one of the three that voted for Rekard yesterday, but today he opens with a random, unsubstantiated vote for Ryvvn.

Also, he smells vaguely like crêpes, and that bastard knows I'm on a diet.

I would have voted for Okaros whether rekard ended up the random pick or not -- I'm asking why Okaros chose to move his vote to add an additional person to the tie? If there's a wolf in the top 3, then arguably the best way to protect him is to add another potential target for the random selection, as trying to push someone else ahead would likely wind up in a new tie.

Edit: OTOH, I do agree completely that Admetus' vote and push on Ravebomb makes perfect sense for self-preservation, and I have always been strongly of the side of self-preservation not being inherently wolfy.

I can support an initiative to lynch the guy who put me in a tie. Not that I blame you, twdog. Killing last game's winners is kind of an etiquette thing around here. Still, it would make me a non-contentious tie if a wolf were threatened.

Reading through the end of day and this day in rapid succession, and I can't help but agree that twdog is the most suspicious of those votes, IMHO, but I can't argue with Okaros either. It might be that Admetus is a valid target as the save-ee of those efforts, but I'm typically wary of voting for someone because he got votes last night - do not like that wagon.

twdog, CAD, Meta4 feel wolfy to me. Not sure about Okaros. And I'm incredibly suspicious of Ionitor, but not necessarily because of anything he's done this game.

Have you not played with San before? If it was a substantiated vote I'd be more concerned.

Going with Meta4 simply because of some odd accusations today. The above against San and the other at DastardlyOldMan for his Day 1 vote. This is a departure from my normal method of using random.org on Day 1 and 2, but these pokes are very odd for Day 2 in my mind. Which I'm sure will cause me no end of trouble but so be it.

I'm at dinner, and there's not a tally so take my vote with a grain of salt. But I think twdog would be the third person in the lead with 2 votes.

If there was only one wolf in the top 3, if that wolf was anyone other than San they had an easy escape offered to them by twdog (PJ could have voted for San, Rave could have voted for PJ at the last second). While I don't know whether PJ or rekard were around, I know RaveBomb was at the time I made vote thanks to that shiny Online tag he likes to wear.

Voting defensively would've given them the perfect excuse to save themselves, so I opted to throw an additional wagon into the mix to make any last minute vote-changes have some possible meaning besides "self-defense". Rave/PJ would be choosing not just to save themselves, but choosing between multiple viable targets. (And if rekard was around to move as well, that would also be educational).

If there were two or three wolves in that three-way tie, then I'm living very dangerously for a wolf by drawing attention myself like that, and it's far more likely/useful that the wolves would simply let one of them die rather than risking exposure of a third/fourth wolf in an attempt to save one. We'd also have to be really lucky to nab that many wolves on Day 1 (which is not to say that doesn't happen, simply that it's very rare).

And frankly it's kind of fun throwing monkey wrenches around to see how people react. I'm a plain human rather than a wolf or a special, so I can more easily afford to throw some personal risk around.
