Hooray for post whore status!

I seriously can't wait to be a strumpet. I've been pining for that title since I joined the forum...I have a little pipe dream of opening a vintage style burlesque lounge that serves fancy baked goods and tea.
And I will name my house of ill-repute "Tea and Strumpets."

1. Does it go by post count?

2. Why are you posting this in the escape room?

1. Yes. I still have a shit ton to go

2. I locked the thread in the car on the way to the escape room. As much as I wish it wasn't the case, I do not have the attention span to write up a new day while riding in the car.

I think I'm going to be on a bit of a break. It was just as well I was killed off the first day of this last game, as work has continued to be crazy.

In good news, the company gave me another promotion, and I get to move back to Atlanta sooner than expected. It is a new role for the company and gives me the opportunity to really impact the organization. Until I can get some processes in place and documented to the point where they stand up to an audit, I'm not finding myself with a lot of free time during the day. I expect it will take a couple of months to get the position into a cruise control setting, and allow me the time required for poor analysis of wolfly motives.

I'll pop in as I can, but I'll be quieter than normal at least through Q1. Until then, happy hunting!

I just finished reading the thread here that talked about Zark's participation in the Mafia Championships

I think I remember reading the entire thread for the first season, several years ago. Good humans from high-participation forums have a disproportionately high value in those games. 2+2's first representative in that game was probably the best human they had (NEVER been mislynched as a human), and he got mauled on something like Day 3 because he'd all but cleared himself already with smart posts/votes/analysis. It can be insanely hard to sort through the noise and pick out posts to make reads off of, but that noise is a rich bed of information for reads and tells.

The style is so different than what we go through here. I feel like anyone who can reliably pick out wolves from posting here stands a strong chance in a game like that, but only if they have the time and energy to keep up with the massive post volume through the first few days (and the massive MASSIVE number of posts that need to be re-read during lategame analysis).

Yeah, seeing how it played out I have zero regrets passing on the opportunity to play in the Mafia Championships. That flood of traffic would've been impossible for me to keep up with while also maintaining my actual day job.

I'll totally support sending Zark again though, as watching him repeatedly murder his fellow humans is always hilarious.

In other news, next game signups when? I think my self-imposed exile may be at an end.

Very limited print run of a newly designed small group social deduction game from some dev friends of mine being Kickstarted right now; I backed their last game, and have already backed this one!

Their last game, Complicated Board Game the Card Game, is a cleverly designed Fluxx style game (but much better imo); I have faith in them to put out another great product, and I like that it's a lower player count social deduction game. Here's hoping we both enjoy it!

That figures since I used to live just a few hours away from philly, but am now a west coaster.

On a related note, I will be at PAX East again this year (along with FCM) and hosting my now annual Indie Game Designers Modify & Play Werewolf panel (twice annual with the inclusion of Mafia at PAX West)! Dferr and FCM will also be participating as panelists!

No firm announcement, but if it does well I would expect it to be a Philly staple. It seems like there should be enough interest in the NYC/Philadelphia region to sustain a Origins/Gencon scale convention.

Poltical post incoming, please skip if you don't want to read it. I'm posting varents of this on sites I hang out on

I don't work for the Federal govement, but my work does collect PII (Personally Identifable Information) on millions of people and that data does get sent to the Feds. People give us this information as part of applications for certain Federally funded financial services, and because I work in the devops team I can get confidential information on millions of people right now.

In light of this weekend's events, the team had an internal discussion and we've decided we won't cooperate with directives to modify the application to collect data on the applicant's religion, country of origin, or to require positive proof of citizenship. We'll resign if it comes down to it. We've given a statement to our management to that effect. This data isn't particularly important in the big picture so I don't want this to seem like a larger thing then it is, but it's not tottaly inconsequential either.

If whatever you do for work involves data collection, the government, or both, I'm asking you to give consideration to what you would be ethically comfortable with. I'm not asking you to come to the same decision, we all have our own viewpoints and standards after all, maybe you think I'm being ridiculous or maybe you think I'm being prudent, but whatever you think, I am asking for you to give it some thought.

I don't want some big debate on the politics, that isn't what this site is for, but like I said I'm making posts on sites I hang out in that I know have tech people on them

Nice - I actually manage an A&E team, so right now, all of the PII comes through my shop (yay for Sox compliance :shake: ). I hadn't given it much thought to what would happen if this were requested (although given that we're a Dutch plc and not affiliated with the government, highly unlikely - but we do have public records and the like in another branch of the parent company). It *is* however, going to be an interesting time to be in the industry of science.

After 10 months of work insanity, countless hours in the lab, one hilariously delayed cross country flight, I have in my possession two bottles of a new line of gummy vitamins that will launch next month. These (and two others I'll get next week) are the first things that I'll be able to point to on a store shelf and say "I made that from start to finish".

This seems like an appropriate time for some bourbon.

And what's the tolerated rate of occurrence for that side-effect in your final formula? 5, 10%?

Also you should let us know what the brand name is going to be. For... reasons.

The bourbon helps wash down the vitamins, right? Is that part printed on the bottle somewhere?

Also curious (about Dom's vitamins, not Okaros's wife... that's a different thread :eyebrow: ). Unless, of course, Dom is playing an "everyone's special" game, & feeding us all his "special pills" is part of his victory condition.

I have it on good authority that's not the case in the current thread, but I can't vouch for the shenanigans on level 2.

more in a bit,

The GM says this:

I stand corrected. Necklessone is the guy with a pharmaceutical career who makes gummy vitamins. The pills DOM has been handing out are something completely different

Vitafusion is the brand (with Lil' Critters as our kids line). This particular sub brand hasn't been officially announced yet, so I'll wait until it's on shelves to mention which specific gummies they are.

And there is a special new ingredient tying them all together, but the only connection to zombies is from Dead Rising.

So, I just want to point out that the Humble Freedom Bundle is both an amazing deal at $30 and an excellent way to give $30 (or more) to either the ACLU, Doctors without Borders, or the International Rescue Committee. 100% of the proceeds go to those charities.

Seriously, the list of stuff in this bundle is insane and a lot of it is extremely high quality. Go get it all you game-purchasing-slackers!

I greatly appreciate what they are doing, I only wish it didn't include so many games that have been part of previous bundles, since I own practically the entirety of what they are offering. I do already donate directly to a couple of these orgs, so I don't feel bad about skipping this otherwise awesome fundraiser. If you don't have most of these games, it's absolutely worth buying the bundle and letting your $ go to these causes!

It's worth noting (again) that 100% of the proceeds go the organization(s) of your choice.

So it's great deal both if you want the games *and* if you're just looking to donate some money to worthy causes. Worst case? You still make the donation you wanted and wind up with a bunch of giftable keys you can give to someone else. :)

Yeah, apparently you get individual, giftable keys for everything, rather than a single block key for the whole bundle. That makes it a different equation.

There's something fittingly karmic about my internet at home dying at *exactly* end of day. Now to watch cat videos on my phone.

The news was actually there yesterday, just lightly hidden. Look at the last spoiler mark from Okaros.

The GM says this:

Sorry, I removed dferr from the dead, but didn't add him to beyond. This has been fixed

"The possibility that it's Zark simply murdering someone at a whim each day... would be delightful if true, but I worry that that's too simple a solution." - Okaros

I'm proud of that particular misdirection, but I have to admit it's not adding anything to the "trust Okaros" column. ;)

Sure, you just have to look past the event horizon to see it.
