Gods, I wish our users were more self sufficient like this. We're not IT, but you can tell that some of the editors think we are. Accidental Deletes of sequences (shortform commercial spots all the way up to whole movies) are a thing. A think which could be mitigated by occasionally off lining the project files.

Efforts to provide this as a service fell down on strength of lack of organization of projects. We have over 1000 projects named "untitled project" whose only distinction is what folder & when timestamped

A little under two years ago I changed jobs. Then a merger happened. But seeing the Rick and Morty post made me realize how much I missed you guys (well, except 7z7). So I'm guess what I'm saying is

I don't like doors, Morty. They just lock you in, keep you trapped. I need to be free, Morty! Free to do whatever the fuck I want!

I guess what I'm saying is that I'll shoot you, Morty. But only if you ask me to.

W-why would I do that Rick? This is this is so typical of you Rick. Y-you don't care about anyone unless you need them for something. So what is it this time Rick? You need to test your new anti-matter laser neutrino gun or some shit like that? Well go find someone else to help you.

There isn't anybody else, Morty. Haven't you been paying attention? It's just me and you, Morty. Forever. And we're going to keep going on adventures playing the Wolf Game, Morty. And if anybody gets in the way, Morty, I'll get rid of them! Just like I got rid of your dad!

I think it's technically true, Morty. I mean, you did bury this timeline's version of you in the backyard, so it wasn't really *you* that made those posts there on TWG1...

I'm not sure how big our group is. Just three right now but waiting on four more. I forgot to get the ducks in a row when they sent the three day warning out, so I had to try to coordinate last minute, with predictably unclear results.

The lady and I are already scheduled to sing in a concert that weekend, so I'm going to lose most of Saturday and some of Friday as well. Still got the three day pass, and I still expect to be there. ;)

It might be important one of these days...

I was super pumped for this, but unfortunately it's the same weekend as Grand Prix Portland (Magic the Gathering). I had already promised to fly out to Portland to visit Ryvvn, FCM, and her family before PAX Unplugged was announced. Given the choice between the two, I'd pick Unplugged, but the other situation complicates that.

If they were to commit to coming back for PAXU, obviously I would reconsider.

Director in Miami just forwarded my VP a note from one of his young engineers that Sven's not providing the support he needs and asking for a call. At 11 PM on a Friday night.

Youngling engineer can't diagnose his way out of a paper bag without a team guiding him every step of the way just got a call from me. Be careful what you wish for.

Does anyone have any experience with this game?
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/139030/mascarade

It was mentioned over in GESC as a werewolf-like, but nobody gets eliminated from the game. I thought this might be a good addition to my collection if so, but was curious if anyone else has tried it.

Did anyone else get Status Report (the game that Ryvvn was involved with a few pages back)?

My copy is sitting here, languishing as I haven't seen my friends that I would play with.

Any initial thoughts?

Interestingly enough, I just got to host and play this, as well as some good old Werewolf, two days ago at a Portland game store's free play area -- there's an adults only bar and gaming area in the back of the store which helped give me the courage to initiate the offer of hosting standard Werewolf to a group of stranger's playing One Night; after that session ended, I engaged another couple looking on and played both Status Report and my own game, All or One, with them.

So far, I've only played Status Report as a 3 player game -- prior to this recent time, the only other play session I had was with a couple of the game's devs (who are friends) back at PAX East -- and while playing with this couple, after one round of standard play, which we all found fun but kind of difficult for the rampant AI, we changed it up by making the Captain cover their eyes during the Status Report so they wouldn't see which AI played which causalities and it gave the AI players more incentive to verbally convince the Captain of their loyalty, it was a lot more enjoyable with the change.

The game is designed for 3-5, so I'd like to see how it works as a full game to really get a feel for it; I'm guessing much like my own game, which I say is designed for 3-5, that 4 is probably the sweet spot.

So. Many. Stickied. Threads.

Anyone know if there's a view option or the like I can setup to hide/lower the announcements section and the sticky threads? I have to scroll a full page to see actual new content in the Pub. Could we move some of that to a different topic, maybe? I appreciate all the process-oriented changes we're making to smooth over the game flow, but the side-effect is that we've got, from my perspective, what amounts to quite a bit of clutter.

e: limiting topics to last-30-days remediates some of it; the announcements still take up half the screen, but I can cope :)

So I made a New Game Signups board (which I feel was sorely needed) and moved a bunch of "new player" and "general board related" stuff over there; I also stickied the F5 thread here, since it's clearly the most used off-topic thread; and I globalized the GM queue to encourage players to consider hosting future games after a current one wraps up.

So the weirdest thing happened to me this morning. I got a virus mailed me to .... not email, actual mail. Snail mail

No joke, I'm serious!

This morning I received an envelope addressed to me, and inside was a crappy sales brochure (with bad grammar and watermarked shutterstock images) for a consulting company I've never heard of, and there was one of those business card size USB sticks and it said I should insert it to watch a special demo presentation

It wasn't just me, a bunch of people got sent the same thing

Anyway, I most certainly did not plug it in because it looked super sketchy, and besides, our USB ports are locked down anyway. Then like 15 minutes later we got an email from our security people that was (paraphrased) HOLY FUCK DO NOT INSERT THIS IN YOUR WORKSTATION!!!!! :flail: :flail: :flail: :flail: :flail:

Turns out it had a hidden partition with an exploit kit on it, and some dumbass tried to plug it in and set off a security alert

Anyway, I've seen plenty of malware addressed to "dear sir or madam" or "valued customer" or something vague like that, but I've never had a virus addressed to me personally. I know they just got my name off of a staff directory, but it was still a bit surreal

On the plus side, I guess that means our network security setup must be working if they're resorting to mailing us malware

:flail: It's been a miserable week so far. Mysterious abdominal pain starting Monday, fever and a sore throat joining in later that night. I had an ultrasound today and my spleen is enlarged, so now I get to chase that one. Apparently these could all be consistent with mono; that just sounds delightful.

Stupid body, stop making me regret 35 years of abuse.

Gotta say, it's been a shit day at work, so that pupper definitely put a big ol' smile on my face.

It's hard not gushing out loud, "oooh, look at those paws!".

It's the speckles that do it for me. I love a speckled dog.

I'm a dog owner, not a miracle worker!

You all will get PLENTY more pics. We pick him up in the beginning of July! The breeder said he was going to the biggest of the litter!

For this new job or a visit? Now or soon? I have lots of good places to get a bite, we can meet up pretty easy.

Oh GDI of course I ping you here and then totally forget about it immediately afterwards. We were in town for the weekend for a friend's wedding. Ended up not having too much free time anyway (wife went from "explore!" to "naptime!" in about 3 seconds Sunday morning) but we'll be back down for PAX in November and likely more often than that. Her sister lives in South Philly and this trip reminded us just how short a ride it is for us to get down there. Our commute takes longer some days...
