TWG 100 - The Oregon Trail

Postby The Fairy Catmother » 01 Sep 2016, 12:36:05

This won't be vanilla anymore. I'm still working out the gritty details, and I'll post more on that before the game starts.

The core non-vanilla feature is how Zark the villagers will be killed. There will still be wolves, but we will also have the various problems that arise in the computer game (disease, natural disaster, food spoilage, etc).

In order to avoid a completely imbalanced game with mass villager casualties and give the villagers a fighting chance, the wolves will have to choose between:
(1) a normal maul
(2) an Oregon Trail type complication that MAY OR MAY NOT result in multiple deaths

For example, the wolves may choose to forgo the normal maul and give their target dysentery. Their target would probably still die the next day, AND the disease could spread to someone else, IF the villagers don't contain it.

* While the wolves are not necessarily immune to the effects of the Oregon Trail, they are less susceptible to them than the villagers are. They are wolves, after all.
* Not all complications will work in the same way. The chances of extra deaths occurring will be different for each, and some effects may or may not be delayed.

The villagers will also have various powers to help balance the game's perils.

Day 0 begins September 13.
EOD will be 10:00 pm Pacific Time.

That's about ridiculous. I was starting to question the reality of existence after 3 weeks without internet. My findings indicate it almost certainly exists, but in a significantly less vibrant state. Also, cell data is really expensive.

RaveBomb making a lot of sense is how you know you're past the point of no return and that death is the only escape.

Are your forums built? I'm guessing we will need a day zero to pack out our kit. I'm opting for the desert eagles and Warne's Tactical Knife, as well as a canteen and a lot of lembas.

Egon!

Glad to have you back bud - I'm a little nervous about the new folk - one of them tried to hitch me to a wagon a few minutes back (hoof to the chest generally solves that problem).

Stock up on Lembas and potable water - this may be a long trip.

I neglected to purchase any clothes from the general store, but I do have enough ammo to start or finish a war, and three spare axles. The family complained, and said I should have gotten some oxen, but children sized yokes seemed like a better solution.

Just a quick update on FCM's behalf, she is out at an audition for the evening (I'll leave her to share the details with anyone interested), and she plans to setup her boards and launch Day Zero tonight; I believe the plan is for her to start Day One sometime tomorrow evening.

Okaros, since I will be participating and you will not be, and since you have experience with unusual games, I hope FCM can turn to you with any questions I cannot reasonable answer.
