TWG CIV: A Very Wolfy Wedding

Postby dferrantino » 12 Dec 2016, 19:34:53

Quick placeholder post just to get the ball rolling while I come up with the fluff, but it'll be a mostly vanilla game starting next Monday, the 19th. Christmas weekend will likely run until the 26th so we can accommodate any full-weekend festivities.

Out, but render me unto Caesar and I'll make the occasional comment in the Dead forum when I'm not tied up with family affairs.

I'm in for now - I may be in limbo if internet access during the move doesn't go as planned, but the plan is that I won't have an interruption.

Please count me in - I may not be able to host, but I can certainly bring a gift to the wedding.

Where are you and DOM registered, anyway?

Target (not on my back), Arctic Outfitters (preferably anything made of sheep's clothing wool), and Amazon (although anyone from South America would do).

This current batch isn't nearly so bad. You should've seen some of the ones that Zark and I were quoting back and forth at each other during the TWG, Inc. game.

Hm. I should probably open up the Star game to everyone so that you don't have be actively playing to see stuff. I'll try and do that tonight. Might even take a stab at archiving the last two games if an admin doesn't beat me to it.

Going to have to change my RSVP to a -1.

Speaking of TWG Inc, our HR group elected to 'simplify' our talent management program by adding 50% more fields for each of my reports to complete, while shortening the time they have to do it from 4 weeks to 2, and electing to make the due date 12/25.

I then have 2 weeks to respond to each of their 15 paragraph reviews, finalize a budget reporting change, and close out our working capital for the year. I predict I will find myself short on time for this game.

Please, kill me. At least in game.

Wow! My company has some funny corporate nonsense from time to time, but one thing we don't do is make deadlines anywhere near the holiday season. Nothing major is allowed to be scheduled from mid-December through mid-January.

hahahaha,

ohhhhahahahahah

aughahahahaha

It's at this point that I should mention why I had to hit the big red pause button on my game. Quick show of hands - who here owns a 4k television set?

See, consumer adoption drives what broadcast standards we move to air, & word was someone rather mangy had recently bought a new set.

Because we love you guys, the content has to be ready, which put a hair up someone's Ozymandius that we had to build a 4k demo room.

In two weeks.

For the specific consumption of the president of the network.

Which of course, puts us in "The emperor is coming here? We'll redouble our efforts" mode, because that's how we roll.

The two weeks? It's to take advantage of year-end funds from projects which didn't make the fiscal cutoff. Spend it or lose it - we're going all brewster's thousands on this (do it under $25k, huh? keep in mind, one professional broadcast 4k display is $29k, so you might have to be a little flexible - also, here's the committee you'll be working with to chose paint colors for the walls).

5 projects were on deck for completion this month, & only my deep archive build is actually happening (this weekend). 4 of those projects fell into darkness and will be completed "sometime in Q1". Mine is on target... and a great many bothans had to die to make that one come in on time and in budget.

Crazy thing is. We're doing it. 4k room was actually stood up in proof of concept mode in a little over a week.

So, Sven, you get shit done. Also, while we're changing the subject, that deep archive build? 107 Petabytes of storage is a nice chunk. I need you to pitch what storage-as-a-service would look like to about a dozen other facilities. Also in two weeks.

I will play the game - but I want to forewarn we are dealing with a very, very distracted Zarkowski.

(Missed you guys, & more in a bit,

7z7)

Sorry, that was me. With my new promotion came a nice fat raise, and I went out and spent the first part of it on a new 4k TV to replace my 15-year old LCD.

Well, I'm not really all that sorry to be honest. The TV is excellent.

Who the hell am i?

I'm ... uummm .... I'm the bride's sister's nephew's aunts' twice removed cousin. Let me assure I most definitely have known them all for ages and 100% did not just crash this party. Just ask jennifer about me! Which one? ummm .... jennifer *cough*wills*cough*johnson*cough*smith*cough*

sooo .... anyway, look, I'd love to stay and talk but there's an open bar and I need to get this gIN and tonic refilled.

Why would I introduce myself? When you're trying to crash a wedding you try to just slip into the crowd and act like you have every right to be there.

Sorry I didn't see like a formal "I'm new so let me introduce myself" thread, but I'm a friend of omega. According to omega the most important thing to remember is that the game is about telling the truth no matter what, so I should always believe anything people say because no one here is even the slightest bit manipulative.

To catch you up: you can always believe me, exclusively, whenever I say I'm human; and I'm not secretly waiting for a day to abuse that consistency to save my own skin.

Also, I'm sure he's already warned you about RaveBomb.
