Before the Beginning, after the great war between Heaven and Hell, God created the Earth and gave dominion over it to the crafty ape he called Man. And to each generation was born a Creature of Light and a Creature of Darkness... and great armies clashed by night in the ancient war between good and evil. There was magic then. Nobility. And unimaginable cruelty. And so it was until the day that a false sun exploded over Trinity, and man forever traded away wonder for reason.
The Dust Bowl - 1935. A wandering carnival troupe picks up a recently orphaned young man, while a Methodist preacher takes to the airwaves - and so continues the battle between the Avatars of Light & Darkness - a battle that spans generations without conclusion (this game will hopefully have a conclusion).
This will be a "mostly" vanilla game; while the theme lends itself well to a Special game, I couldn't get the roles to balance out in such a way that I was comfortable with. I have tweaked the special roles slightly as follows:
The seer will be a dual-role: one player (Apollonia) will choose the target; another player (Sofie) will get the results (target + affiliation) - yes, it's not quite canon with the end of the series, but Sofie doesn't know that. If either dies, the seer-ability is essentially neutralized. The two will not know one another's identity (I'm still waffling on that point a bit, though - I think that if Apollonia targets Sofie, they'll each be informed of the other's identity).
The vigilante and witch doctor roles will be combined, and will only work as a night action. In order to give life, you gotta take it away from someplace else. The vig/witch doctor (Ben Hawkins) will be able to protect someone, but only by killing someone else - he'll need to submit a protection target and a vigilante target, and once that succeeds, it's drained. He cannot restore life to himself. There will not be any other form of GA.
