Day 3 - Your numbers dwindle

Postby twdog » 11 Dec 2013, 00:52:04

You might think being chosen to go on a poorly described suicide mission would be stressful, but ClearAsDay had never felt so calm as the day he walked into the Martian deserts.

--

Their mission almost failed last night. She'd have put bullets in their brains, if she'd had any to put there.

Last night I was attacked by retracted - was ICB. I am currently wounded as a result, so my vote will count for half. That's all I really need to keep voting for him today.

I was wounded last night by Meta4. My vote is (again) .5

In case I don't come back, placeholder vote on ICB with Furin.

I was wounded by Iron Clad Burrito during turn 11 in the aptly named officers mess. I was likewise told my vote counts for half, but our powers combined, maybe we can escort Ceviche Boy off the ship regardless?

Nothing much up here. The bridge has a signaling guide for communication with British ships. I didn't find it useful. The officers mess had some blended scotch whiskey. Blended. Don't get me wrong, I've drunk worse, but you mustn't hold that against me, I was sober at the time.

Bee-dee-dee-bip-bee-beep. Twee-dee bap bop doot doot whee-ooo doot.

That's preposterous! You must have some idea within those rusty circuits as to who's been moving my votes!

Whee-whoo blee-dee bip bip dee-doo dee.

I most certainly did not. Do you really think I could mis-spell 'Ryvvn' so badly it would be mistaken for 'Clearasday'?

Blaat-dit dee-doot bip.

Yes, that's a rhetorical question. Don't get smart.

Bee-doot-whoop doot bip beep.

Now I hadn't thought of that. A device in Security that would lock my vote. I wonder if anyone's found it?

Furin and Rictus, when and where were you attacked? We've seen few people with the ability to disguise themselves so far, and I'm sincerely hoping that Rictus' attacker wasn't the real (and very dead) Meta4.

Gee, ICB, what's wrong with you? What will be your excuse today? Wolfiest power ever.

Now, those WoGs hurt quite a bit. I think though we may have 5 wolves around or else this would be the final day to do it right. We are 14 right now. If there were 6 wolves maybe a warning would be said by now that we can't miss a lynch.

I am not liking Okaros or either Ryyvn. That last minute useless vote just really seems bad, really bad. And the fact that the vote was moved again proves it was no 1 time affair. It makes Ryyvn more suspicious.

And Okaros dropping his RP for some sort of defense doesn't jive well with me.Of course being honest, bringing Hellheart as a reasoning for a vote seems like trying too hard.

I will go with retracted . Was Okaros for now.

Well ICB is still alive, so I'm unsure what he is doing to cause so many wounds, but there's a zombie faction lurking, as I was wounded (I should probably just set up shop in medical at this point) by Meta4 at the Stable.

Sorry everybody, I thought work was winding down but suddenly problems are coming out of the woodwork. I may not be able to post much today at this rate :x

My PM from our Beloved GM indicated that I was attacked by ICB in the Central Passageway during Round 9. There was also a gm note at the bottom indicating that my vote counts for 1/2 until Day 4 as a result.

Thanks. Then this means one thing. ICB did this on purpose and didn't even stop to search. The bastid attacked 3 times on turns 4-6 from 1st class staterooms to port liftwood. I can gather from this that he just moved around through the middle of the map to maximize his attacks where a bottleneck could appear.

So with this, we have evidence that he was just moving from turns 4 to 11 since Zark said he encountered ICB on the Officer Mess on turn 11.

To reach Officer Mess from Port Liftwood Array you need 5 turns, which matches me seeing him on turn 6 on the array and then Zark on turn 11 on the mess. This leaves no time for doing a search.

I wonder though, as a wolf what is the purpose of such obvious suicide run? But I digress. ICB marched around with the purpose to hurt whatever he could. He could have masked it a little if he had searched somewhere but he did not do that.

Anyone else see something strange?

Given the ghostly visitations and the freshly barricaded room I saw last night, I suspect we either have someone who's able to use the powers of the dead or that the dead themselves are able to rise from the grave. Ghosts of Mars, indeed.

I saw Meta4 lurking in the gloom as I passed through the Stables last night. MEM was looking busy there at the same time. I did not see ICB at all on my trip through town.

Hrrm. If ICB was responsible for all of these attacks it seems deliberately antagonistic. If he wasn't responsible, then is someone trying to frame him? Either way, there's a surprising amount of effort being made at pointing fingers towards ICB.

Did anyone else see ICB moving around last night?

There was more than one ICB out last night or rekard is lying. I suspect the former.

8 1st Class Staterooms A (necklessone saw him move there)
9 Central Passageway (wounded Furin)

Seriously, I doubt ICB or anyone else would rampage around like that, even if they had the ability to. It sounds like a frame-up. My first guess was going to be "name swap" because CAD was a role swapper. Did anyone besides Neckless see ICB in a conflicting location? Or not get attacked by him?

I only know that I was attacked 3 times from rounds 4 to 6 by ICB. Annoying part is that my information matches with Furin's. And this matches what says above too.

Apparently zombies don't move much.

Actually guys. I have an idea to clear this up.

Everyone here. If you saw someone yesterday, mention 1 ocurrence if you did and then where and/orwhen. I'm not asking for people to disclose their whole route, just if you saw someone.

Since ICB searched the same location that I did on Night 1, I can vouch for him having the capability to move around the map faster than would seem possible. Some of those that I passed are certainly also aware of this: there is at least one secret passage connecting two ~distant map points. ICB knew about the one I do (assuming he got the same results from his search that I did), so the "it takes 5 moves to get from here to there" approach is not necessarily valid.

I'm not going to confirm that he's more-or-less human for that, but the whole attacking people thing does seem awfully . . . . overt for a master saboteur?

"OK guys, twdog here. You're the wolves, and you kill people by beating them up. Publicly. Good luck, we're all counting on you. For the greater good."

I'm not sold on it, but I need to go back through the last couple of days and pay a little more attention.

I think the buddy system does us good, & it's already born fruit:

Rictus wrote:On my phone.

Night 2 I was attacked while alone by meta4 at the stables.

Very interesting. My navcomp specifically notes I was alone when attacked as well:
Round 9 ravebomb moved to officer mess
Round 11 @ officer mess "while alone, you are attacked by ICB!" (not a vote)

Unless he has a cloaking device, or some kind of projectile capability to attack from other rooms, there's something else going on. Anybody got a ysalamiri? Because unless I miss my guess, somebody's got a shoggoth. Traveling through this wreck ain't like dusting crops - Without precise calculations we could be attacked by zombies, bounce too close to a steam boiler, or drink blended whiskey in the aptly named officer's mess. This is why we can't have nice things.

His silence bothers me, so I will go ahead and ask: ICB, can you reveal your travel plans for last night? What were you looking for?

I too was attacked by meta4 at the stables and he was lurking in the gloom there. He seems to only be able to attack when someone is alone as when Augie, Okaros or Admetus were there with me, I was not attacked. So anyhow, buddy system if you're going to the stables.

So, funny thing. After reading the thread and rereading the results, I could have confirmed there was more than one ICB out there myself. After all, I was in a room with two ICBs at one point. :flail:

Here's my summary of what we've learned today:
* There are actors on the map who will wound you if you are alone with them.
* These actors appear to be using masked identities of other players. It is unknown what restrictions there are on these masks.
* These actors appear to move as players do. Do we have any evidence of one of them staying still?

Yes, this thread has a few people mentioning Meta4 lurking at Stable, including MEM saying it was multiple rounds.

I can confirm that I visited Stable and MEM was there, with Meta4 lurking in the shadows. He didn't approach us.

I searched the Abandoned Work Camp tonight. There were no items or useables, but there was a hint about recent use by a Cult. Cult sounds like Wolf to me, but it can't be the wolves if it's the first time anyone has ever heard of them. Rictus also arrived at round 8 and got busy, which is enough time to have searched or blind-used. Rictus, did you get a Cult related hint?

I'm assuming we'd be told if we were at lynch-or-lose, but I still think it's pretty key that we get a wolf today, whatever they're called, and I think ICB is being framed.

Here's an updated chart of what we know about the evil movements last night.
Evil ICB
1
2
3
4 1st Class Staterooms (rekard)
5 West Debris (rekard)
6 Port Liftwood Array (rekard)
7 West Debris (assumed)
8 1st Class Staterooms (necklessone)
9 Central Passageway (Furin)
10 Airlock A (assumed)
11 Officer Mess (7z7)
12

Evil Meta4
At least 5 rounds at the stables are clear from a review of the thread, probably more.
Stable (Rictus)
Stable (Ryvvn)
Stable (Okaros, MEM)
Stable (MEM)
Stable (MEM, Admetus)

So neckless, if I read right you were in the same room with two ICBs?

I was alone all the time. By the way, it seems getting wounded 3 times in a night disables powers. I would be annoyed if I had something to use.

Also I think the evil ICB would be another player doing a route and the zombies more of a power than a person.

ICB sightings
1
2
3
4
5
6 South Debris (necklessone saw him busy), Portliftwood (rekard)
7 Central Passageway (necklessone saw him move there)
8 1st Class Staterooms A (necklessone saw him move there)
9 Central Passageway (wounded Furin)
10
11 Officers Mess (wounded 7z7)
12

I only know that I was attacked 3 times from rounds 4 to 6 by ICB. Annoying part is that my information matches with Furin's. And this matches what says above too.

Anyone saw ICB on day 1 btw?

From night one:

-- Round 1 --
icb moved to purser office

-- Round 11 --
icb moved to cargo a

I was alone with ICB at Cargo A, I believe, for just one turn before I was joined by another player (Ryvvn), and I was not attacked.

Ryvvn, DOM and Okaros in the Library, nobody else. Nobody attacked anyone as far as I know, and I wasn't told about any power uses at the time.

I'm going back to Ryvvn today; the Night 0 activity still seems suspicious, and Night 1 & 2 didn't improve much upon that.

In terms of the dead returning and an evil chameleon-like power (very, very similar to Hellheart's, from what I can see), it wouldn't surprise me if we have someone absorbing and/or borrowing the powers of the dead, or zombies.

The buddy system seems to be of interest; I've discovered what ~might be a clue indicating that certain activities are more successful when done in pairs (get your mind out of the gutter - not that!). I know that Wasabi and MEM were busy (I assume searching) there on Night 1, albeit not at exactly the same times. On the other hand, there aren't many people that I'd trust to buddy up with at this point.

stealth edit: ICB and I followed almost exactly the same path on Night 1, and I was not attacked. I was alone with him for at least four phases, not more than two consecutively.

I really don't understand why all of you people are straying so far from the ship. Obviously we should just be waiting quietly until the proper authorities arrive and deal with...all this.

It sounds more and more like voting ICB is a frame up. I'm uncertain why meta4 was chosen as an attack vector though. Is it possible that the wolves or whoever shift to a random player form? Not wolves at all and just part of the lovely martian scenery? Clearly we need the Avatar to investigate what is going on here.

We could also assume that ICB is a saboteur and they chose to duplicate him because they knew that we'd know....

And down the rabbit hole we go.

All I'm willing to be certain about is there were two ICBs and one apparently got grabby with anyone he was alone with.

I saw stigmata as I passed through the library on round 8.

Edit: I did not see anybody else in the library at that point.

So ICB was last seen in Round 11 of Night 1 at Cargo A, and then "evil ICB" on Round 4 of Night 2 at the 1st Class Staterooms.

From what I'm hypothesizing, evil ICB return to his point of origin last night - meaning he started and ended in the Forward Passageway (why else double-back completely?)

Forward: Mess - Airlock - Central - Stateroom - WestDebris - Liftwood - WestDebris - Stateroom - Central - Airlock - Mess - Forward.

(or replace Forward Passageway with Bridge)

It's possible that he slipped to the Central Passageway from some other route, but I'm thinking this doppleganger went out, collected something for his master, and returned. If it spawned from normal-ICB, normal ICB could have started in Cargo A or Steerage B to reach that point at that time. Did anyone see him in Security, the Purser Office, or Boiler B prior to round 4?

I'd be very suspicious of people currently in the Forward Passageway or the Bridge as being a possible source. I'd also be interested in seeing where ICB is seen tonight, especially early on.

Oh, and my last night's contribution for one-move was . . . . Rictus, at the Iron Tower.

He couldn't have been on Central on round 3. I was at Central on Round 3. And no ICB .

GM DERP

you should have gotten a message on round 3 about ICB "lurking in the gloom"
you hear an odd muffled noise in the shoggoth tank

I think that should have gone through PM. Hah.

Well, that changes things a bit.

Either way he didn't come from the north. I was coming from the north.

since you stated something publicly based on my error, it seemed better to make a public correction. Although I'll keep that in mind if you disagree
