The Rules & Clarifications

Postby FurinMirado » 22 Feb 2014, 19:54:40

Game Start: Monday, February 24th
Days will end at 9pm EST

Welcome to Night Vale. A small town in the middle of the desert with many interesting stories, as told by Cecil, the Night Vale Radio DJ.

My intent is to run a simple, vanilla game of TWG with Night Vale as a backdrop. Each day’s opening post will be my best attempt at mimicking Cecil’s style as he informs you of the day’s events.

You will not need to know anything about Night Vale to enjoy this game.

Roles:

Seer – Carlos – a scientist that arrived last year to study the town, he will be able to target one person each night for study and learn whether they are a terrifying Werewolf or a terrifying Resident

Guardian Angel – Old Woman Josie – being friends with the local Angels has its benefits. Once per night she can choose someone to protect that night. If she targets any one player twice in a row or more than 3 times during the game, the Sheriff’s Secret Police catch wind of what is going on. The Angels must spend the rest of the game dodging the Secret Police and Old Woman Josie becomes powerless.

Vigilante (Multiple, may be Wolf role)
As a member of the Sheriff’s Secret Police you have the power to have one person detained in the Abandoned Mine Shaft outside of town. This must be done as a Day action. Each Vigilante can only do this once per game. The Sheriff may show up and allow someone to detain an additional person (reload the Vig Shot) at the GM’s discretion.

Standard rules apply. In order to clarify (and for those that are new):

1. PMs between players are not allowed. You may PM the GM. Some roles (Seer, GA, etc) require that you PM the GM with your target for the night cycle.

2. Everybody votes. If you miss a vote you get 1 penalty vote against you for the next day cycle. These penalties are cumulative, but all you need to do is successfully vote during one day to remove all penalty votes against you. If you miss voting 3 days in a row you will be removed from the game in order to avoid balance issues.

3. In order to vote you must post a player's name in bold. (Example: lynch necklessone). Colors are allowed, but please make sure the vote is readable.

4. The day ends at 9pm EST every day. Votes posted at 9:00 and later will not be counted.

5. If you cast a vote and wish to retract it, please go back to your earlier vote and edit so it is obvious that you are removing your vote for that person. (Example: retracted - was necklessone)

6. If you are a Vigilante and wish to shoot someone please post: "VIG SHOT - PLAYER NAME". The GM will then verify that a Vig Shot has occurred and post the results. The target of this Vig Shot is not allowed to post. No one is allowed to post a fake Vig Shot. Doing so is a WOGable offense.

Regarding Vigilantes:

1. The Sheriff may show up and allow 1 of the Sheriff's Secret Police to detain 1 additional person. If this happens it will be announced that a vigilante has been reloaded, but that player's name and affiliation will not be announced. This reloaded vigilante could be a Resident or Werewolf. This option is being held as a last resort to keep the game balanced.

2. Alternatively, the Sheriff may appoint someone to the Sheriff's Secret Police. This person could be a former Resident or Werewolf. They will become a Resident Vigilante or Werewolf Vigilante. If this happens it will be announced that someone has been upgraded to vigilante status and may detain 1 person. The player's name and affiliation will not be announced. This option is also being held as a last resort to keep the game balanced.
