Day 14: The Finale - Credits

Postby necklessone » 17 Sep 2013, 18:04:45

Nick takes his podium slowly; he's changed shirts and ties since the start of the round and had his makeup touched up.

"Players, for 13 rounds you've taken part in the greatest game show ever made. The contestants have been driven to the brink of failure only to unite and drive out three wolves in a row. But tonight, they're not certain. The votes are spread out and some couldn't decide at all." Nick gestures at the score board.
Smirker : 4 : Admetus, leiden, Visogoth, blindsniper83
Admetus : 1 : Smirker

"Could Smirker be the seventh wolf?" asks Nick. "Or is it all over tonight?"

A deafening howl echoes through the studio as all the lights turn red. The board reads "Contestant Seer" for a few moments before flashing "WOLVES WIN" over and over.

Nick applauds politely while the audience boos the remaining players. "You almost pulled it off, but I'm afraid Admetus and Visigoth had you fooled. Why don't the two of you come up and take a bow?" The wolves take center stage, beaming. The audience continues to boo them as Nick walks over to shake their hands and give each an envelope. "As promised, first class tickets back to your families. Plus a little bonus from some of our sponsors."

As the wolves are escorted off the stage, Nick turns to the audience.

"Thanks to all of you out there in viewing land for joining us for the latest season of The Wolfing Game. We've run a little long so I'm going to have to sign off. I'm Nick Lassone and do you know who the wolves are?"

---

And now to our newest show Deserted Island, already in progress.

"Let's review."

"Let's not."

"Night 1: Wolf."

"…"

"Night 2: Super Wolf."

"…"

"Night 3: Ultra Wolf."

"Ugh."

"Night 4: Omega Wolf. This is when I really began to suspect you."

"I'm sure."

"Night 5: Alpha Wolf. You were moving up."

"Just stop."

"Night 6: Crafty Wolf."

"How many more days are we here?"

"40. Night 7: Hairy Wolf."

"AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"

Great game, Admetus and Visigoth! You two definitely deserved to be the last two Wolves standing!

And thanks for doing such a great job running the game, necklessone!

Based on the posts in the dead thread, I don't think anybody can honestly say that they suspected that Visigoth was a wolf before they died. He was at the very, very bottom of a few wolf suspect lists (including, ironically, my own as a random stab in the dark) but I don't think anybody seriously suspected him of being a wolf.

Not sure if I said it in the dead thread or not, but thanks so much for running the game neckless! While I wasn't a big fan of the too many seers variant (though hard to fully claim that without having been one), I did think the thematic skin for the game and your clever wit were top notch! :D

Thank you for the game, neckless! I thought the gameshow theme wound up working quite well, and overall the uncertain seer role/possibilities kept everyone wondering as to which roles exactly were in the game until nearly the end. :)

I was very impressed at the utility of the additional seer roles, both from the "actually worked when in the game" perspective and the "sounds like it'd be in the game but isn't" perspective. It really did keep people guessing.

Excellent game neckless, although the wolves were spoiled because they got all of the humorous seer results (unless you were having fun with Smirker's "wolfwolfwoflwolfwolf" results as well  )

While I sit you stuck on this deserted island, I'd like to communicate to everyone that I strongly suspect this Ozymandias of being a wolf. Maybe its the starvation that comes with being stuck here, but he's looking at me like I'm especially tasty... :o

I would TOTALLY watch this reality show.

I would also run a pool for how many days pass before one or the other dies/leaves/devours the cameramen

Ho ho ho, I read a bit of the dead forum, and I feel like I know what I'll be finding over the rest of those 14 pages.

I forgot to say before: holy crap DOM, you gave us quite a scare in the wolf board. Some day when we're both wolves, you'll have to help me hide my tells. Of course until then you should probably keep the secret away from me. ;)

I think the biggest surprise I found in the dead thread was the Conch. There was never a hint of its existence over in wolf-land and boy wouldn't *that* have been a shocker had it been revealed late.

It took me a few seconds to get this, but it's awesome. Your theme and writing has been great this game, and this little joke is the perfect ending.

Great Job overall necklessone. Thanks for the hard work so we could all play and enjoy it!

I'm just going to point this out, we had like what, 4 vigilante's and no one pointed the gun at Ozymandias at all? Not even considered it? You are all sheep I tell you, perfect snacks for the wolves.

That's for the great game necklessone. Some day I'll see the sailboat.

On that note could anyone actually see my Magic Eye votes? I actually can't see the sailboat just like Willam so was never sure if they were really readable or not. I might have been messing them up by resizing them since I didn't want to drop is a 2000p wide image at times due to name length.

I do believe this is the first time I've ever lived to the end in back to back games and been on the winning yet opposite side in each game. Though I think this is my third or forth wolf/conversion victory in which I lived to the end. Of course I believe I've only been a wolf/convert like six or seven times total since game 15. So I guess if I'm still alive near the end of game I'm surely dead from here on out no matter what side I'm on. At least I don't have to worry about that as a normal Seer since I'll probably be lynched Day 1 so I have that going for me.

I imagine my low posting "style" certainly helps me slide through to the late game. It's not really intentional for sure. Part is the variableness of work blocking the site. For awhile for TWGIII it was open but now when I try and visit I'm getting a notification and it's wiping out my cookies. So I really am trying to not read it at work since I'm likely getting put into some log of people that spend more time on the web than working. Then after work I have to fit in a 1.5-2 hour workout and then my hopeless TV addiction. Combined with the fact that at times I'll spend 1-2 hours working on just one post (thus the massive walls of text posts) my after work time gets a bit constrained. For a time I could browse "borrowing" an open WiFi router but we got moved and that site isn't accessible anymore.

Probably another reason is the for the most part I will more or less not coordinate with the other wolves when making my day vote. I'll mention who I'm thinking about voting on but really try to ignore any kind of voting strategies and the like. Since if I was a human I wouldn't be getting any help so I really try to do the same thing as a wolf. I think posting as a wolf actually takes me longer since I sometimes have to work around someone I might be a little more suspicious of due to them being a fellow wolf. I'm sure I made some strategic mistakes (DOM will never let me live down skipping the conversion in the Hot Fuzz game) but as I human I very rarely are going for that perfect plan since I wouldn't know what that plan would even be.

I was able to read a few of the first votes... I thought maybe you were passing secret messages in them. But after seeing a couple I quit. Gave me a bit of eye strain (not as young as I used to be) and once I came out of the bathroom with no shirt on... My coworkers thought that was weird.
